About Us
Born of the Executive Director’s abjection, in Harlem circa 2010, and previously known as “Youth Empowerment Syndicate (Y.E.S.)”, A Father’s Love has transcended into a faith infused non-profit 501c3 organization functioning to provide families with mental health support and other wellness resources. Over the years we have vigorously supported (and continue to support) thousands of disadvantaged families throughout the TrI-State Area. Our cathartic approach to curriculum development is rooted in research, literacy, and holistic health practices.
We center the social-emotional needs of every individual we encounter. In understanding the delicate nature of our work, we seek to serve in a humble, yet effective, and ethical manner. Empirical studies reveal how education has been the catalyst to the success of many who were reared in financially challenged and or traumatic environments. Founder, Maurice L. Williams states, “It is the responsibility of organizations like A Father’s Love to deliver evidence-based healing strategies that embody advocacy and programmatic efficacy. This will allow us to elucidate the significance of educational equity in underserved spaces”. We are dedicated to revitalizing our neighborhoods while transforming the lives of underrepresented young people and their families so that together they may develop into productive citizens and community servants.
Young people are in a continuous state of explication. We cogently support them and their loved ones with developing skillsets that will allow them to self-regulate and make informed decisions. Studies show that non-literate teenagers and young adults often engage in antisocial behaviors that lead to them becoming deviant. A Father’s Love is devoted to reversing that stigma by spearheading comprehensive literacy and self care initiatives.
Vision: Motivation, Action, Reflection
Our vision is to eliminate the ecological barriers that arrest youth in their development and keep marginalized families stagnant. We provide participants with family counseling sessions conducted by licensed clinical professionals and motivational tools that promote self-actualization. Our personalized action plans assist members with identifying goals, assessing goal appropriateness, pinpointing necessary tasks, measuring action effectiveness, and goal time- frame management. Through guided reflection constituents are able to identify intrinsic and or extrinsic factors that impede upon their ability to accomplish their goals.
Although we have been able to render quality service to many in need, no organization is an island, we cannot do this alone. We need your support in helping to ensure that the disenfranchised gain access to equitable resources.
