When I think of designers and stylists I envision artists who specialize in accentuating every body type with elaborate fabrics from around the world. However, becoming a renowned stylist is no easy feat, one must come equipped with an innate ability to match finery with individual style. Having a knack for knowing what looks good on others and the flair to make the world love it is a gift.
J. Bolin is blessed and highly favored in many ways. Particularly, with regard to spearheading a fashion frenzy among men and women seeking to get a glimpse at what styles he believes are the trendiest. I got a chance to watch in awe as his pop up shop at the “Essence of a Boss Conference” turned into a stampede of highly enthused women. I was almost knocked off my feet by fashionistas rushing to purchase his picks. It is understandable why people would feel an urgent need to wear articles from his collection. He has built a brand that not only defines the signature style of a visionary in cutting edge fashion but one that is also inspired by his relationship with the most high. He brings an idiosyncratic element to the genre which allows him the opportunity to work with some very distinguished celebrities. His cache of clients include: Tyra Banks, Mary Mary, Michelle Williams, Keisha Knight Pulliam, Tamia, Vivica A. Fox, Boris Kodjoe, Morris Chestnut, Donnie McClurkin, Emmitt Smith, Christina Milian, and Nene Leakes.
When it comes to faith, family, and fashion, J. Bolin has set the bar so high you might need stilts to see him!
After witnessing his magical aura in motion and having the privilege of making his acquaintance, I surmise that he is a humble garment guru with trailblazer written all over him. His jovial demeanor is supported by a Godly energy that is spiritually soothing. More importantly, fame and fortune has not turned him into an egotistical maniac. He is one of the most relatable and down to earth influencers you will ever meet.
With all the fanfare that comes with being the hottest stylist in the country, he has not lost sight of how integral his walk with God has been in obtaining and maintaining success. A testament of his faith was revealed during the conference when he told attendees a story about losing his home and having his car repossessed in Mississippi.
“We moved to Dallas Texas four years ago, after I told my wife I have done all I can in Mississippi. We got denied by every single place we wanted to live because our previous house got taken away along with our car, everybody told us no. One day we were in the car (after house hunting) and my dad asked ‘Do you really want to stay here son’ (You know we become little boys around our parents). I looked at my dad and said ‘Yes sir’. He said ‘I’ll give you a thousand dollars’, my mom interjects "‘What is he gonna do with a thousand dollars, that’s not gonna take care of anything’. Ironically, when I got home (that evening) I had a weird profile picture sitting in my DM. You know when you see a weird profile picture you be like ‘Who sent you, why are you here’. The profile picture ended up being someone that would become a client of mine. I told her "‘I just moved to Dallas and I’m having a hard time finding a place to stay’. She was like ‘Really, no need for that I own neighborhoods’. I said ‘Excuse me, you own neighborhoods?’. She said ‘Yes, if you want a place to stay all you have to do is pay a thousand dollars’. Look at God!
A Father’s Love…

As the event came to a close I had a chance to have a heartfelt moment with J. Bolin about his perspective on fatherhood.
A Father’s Love - What is your definition of fatherhood?
J. Bolin - I think the biggest requirement of fatherhood is to be nurturing. I have a son who is eleven years old, he plays soccer, really cool kid, quirky, just an amazing son. What I love is that we’re able to have moments where we communicate. I get to show him it’s okay to be sensitive, it’s okay to love, it’s okay to be God fearing, it’s okay to show a woman love and show other humans love no matter their ethnicity or gender. I love nurturing my son.
Behind Every Great Man…

There is no doubting J. Bolin is among the elite in terms of fashion. However, it is also a well known fact that behind every great man is an even greater woman. Nicole Bolin is the demure goddess that gives her husband the love and energy he needs to keep electrifying the world. She is the epitome of what a wife is. She travels with her husband and handles behind the scene affairs to ensure their empire runs smoothly. Blessings are continuously bestowed upon them as Nicole recently revealed that the Bolin’s are expecting their second child, April 2020.

Johnny Sledge, was not only J. Bolin’s dynamic personal assistant he was also a close family friend. Johnny went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure his client was represented in an extraordinary manner. Every high level professional should experience having a “Johnny” on their team. We were blessed with the opportunity to work with and get to know such a kind spirited young man. We send our sincere condolences to his family and friends. May his works and legacy forever remain in our hearts.
